I just wanted to say that Claire who ran yesterday's session was utterly fantastic. My whole form was completely engaged the entire time. She nailed Josh, ten minutes in (when he was laughing), but made it so that he really wanted to get dressed up in the skirt. Brilliant! They all participated and spent most of form time this morning talking about it.

I would welcome her back again, anytime!

Fascinating and informative session for these Year 11 students.  Overview of the criminal justice system with plenty of group participation.  A good mix of Q&A, role play and class discussion.  All students engaged, showing genuine interest and asking appropriate, insightful questions.  The guest speaker was professional, articulate and respectful to the needs of individual students.  Great to see some of the Year 11 boys prepared to work outside of their comfort zones.

We really enjoyed having you and we will definitely book you in again.

Claire's talk was interactive and engaged all of our Y10 students. We really appreciated that she changed her usual model to get across important messages to students and we're really looking forward to having her back in school for the full programme. Claire used a range of different activities to communicate with the pupils and they all came away informed and incredibly positive about the session.

“It really couldn’t have gone any better! You were utterly fantastic and staff along with the Y8s agreed. They said that you were professional, funny, experienced and that the session was very well organised. They also appreciated that you were never afraid to mention or talk about the more sensitive or difficult topics which made it easier for the Y8s and I’m a big believer that no topic should be a ‘taboo’ topic as this is how we raise awareness.

There were so many positives.”

“You should know that your approach (involving the students) is very effective. The students found your sessions particularly informative and engaging – they are still talking about the lessons learnt. We will definitely look to use you again in the future.

The workshops are great at getting students to consider issues surrounding the law, consent and assertive strategies for dealing with situations they feel uncomfortable in. This is all done in a safe and inclusive atmosphere with plenty of opportunities for interaction and questions. The use of props added to the student engagement and you have a super classroom presence which ensures students listen well and take part too. The other staff and student teacher who saw your workshops were blown away with both content and delivery!

“Thank you for coming in and delivering, the feedback from staff was that they thought the session was very good at engaging all students and the use of real cases for scenarios really put things into perspective for the students. Students have now completed a feedback sheet and the UK law and consent session came out on top as their favourite session but also as the most informative. Students enjoyed the role play and found that they learnt a lot in regards to consent, the law and consequences as a result. Boundaries were made very clear and it is just what the students needed. The session was well organised and grasped the attention off all students.”

Claire introduced the topic of the session to the students at the start of the lesson. I was impressed by the straight talking no nonsense wording of the introduction and this seemed to have a powerful impact on the students sat in the classroom. Appropriate attention was given to explaining how sexual words were going to be used. Essentially the tone seemed to be “Grown up lesson = grown up behaviour”. Children were engaged from the start.

Claire introduced her background in the police and her first-hand knowledge and experience of the topic. This meant the students were extremely engaged in the topic with more respect and enthusiasm than they would have shown if this had been a class teacher delivering the session.

Appropriate attention was given to explaining to the class that there maybe students in the room who have experienced sexual assault and how respect and understanding was needed throughout the session.

The correct definitions of keywords like rape, sexual assault and penetration were clearly explained so all students clearly knew their definitions and honest straight up definitions were given.

Claire lead the students into a serious and mature session safely, allowed the them to engage confidently in a grown up manner and then brought them out the session feeling confident. Comic relief was used to break the tension and seriousness at different points in the lesson.

I would definitely recommend this session to any school wanting engaging and informative sessions delivered on this topic. As a parent this is exactly how I would want this topic delivered to my children. A privilege to be involved in the session today.
